A celebration of women's voices, the Serendipity Singers is an all female choral group on the South Strand. The creation of the group came about in 2006 when our director, Dr. Diana Scroggins and several others set about to form a group to develop and promote the appreciation of sacred and secular choral music through free public concerts and benefit performances.
The objectives of the Serendipity Singers are the following:
- To promote vocal training of its members and provide continual improvement of vocal sound,
- To provide information and educational opportunities for the community to develop greater appreciation and understanding of choral music,
- To support educational opportunities for worthy students, which will include financial scholarships as funds are available.
The spring concert is in April and a holiday concert on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Practice for the April concert starts January, and for the Holiday concert in August. Regular meetings are held Thursday afternoons at 3:30pm at the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church at 9967 Ocean Hwy. (Hwy 17), Pawleys Island.
The group averages between 30 and 35 women. The Serendipity Singers are about friendship and supporting each other by joining together in song.
