"Art & Music Under the Oaks"

The Cultural Council of Georgetown County is pleased to invite you to a great new event to raise funds and awareness for our Youth Arts & Educational Programming. Your support is vital to develop and sustain these important programs for Georgetown County Youth. 

The event will be held on the lovely grounds of Hopsewee Plantation from 4 to 7 pm on Saturday, April 17th (with a rain date of April 18). 

Tickets are $35 and proceeds will support the Cultural Council's programs and historic Hopsewee Plantation.  The fun and festivities include delicious food, a white wine sangria (wine and bottled water etc also available) an arcade of member artists, Lowcountry crafts & culture and outstanding musical performers.

The Cultural Council of Georgetown County announces the hiring of its new Executive Director R. Scott Jacob

Mr. Jacob brings a wealth of experience in arts management, including developing programs, fundraising, marketing and events planning.  Area residents will remember Jacob from his days as General Manager then later Director of Development for The Long Bay Symphony, as well as a stint as Manager of Membership and Development for Brookgreen Gardens.  In addition to serving the arts in this community, Mr. Jacob also worked for the American Institute of Architects in Philadelphia as Director of Programs and Events and served on the staff of the Philadelphia Historical Commission, where he worked to help preserve that city's wealth of historic buildings.

 

2nd Annual Chocolate Sunday  a Success!

The Cultural Council held its 2nd Annual Chocolate Sunday fundraiser on Sunday, October 4, at the home of Caroline & Rich Drummond in the Prince George community.  With over 100 in attendance, the event raised funds to help support Arts Education programs, including Young Treasures scholarships.  Many chocolate sweets were available for sampling while listening to performances of the Indigo Choral Society Camerata and the special talents of 4 Young Treasures scholars.  The Cultural Council exceeded its goal and is looking forward to next year's event!  Next year's event will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 6:00pm.  Mark your calanders

DANNY MCLAUGHLIN

A local favorite and exceptional artisit, offers Ongoing Studios in oil, watercolor and acrylic.  Beginners to advanced students are welcome.

  • ONGOING PAINTING STUDIO -Every Monday (9:am-12pm OR 1pm - 4pm)
  • ONGOING PAINTING STUDIO - Every Tuesday (9:am-12pm OR 1pm - 4pm OR 6pm - 9pm)

DEBORAH BROAD

A bright and colorful artist working in acrylics, oil and her favorate, pastels.  In her pastels and Drawing classes she gives student opportunities to work from life.

  • PASTELS - Every Wednesday (9am-12am)
  • ONGOING PAINTING STUDIO - Every Wednesday (1pm-4pm)
  • DRAWING - Every Friday(1pm - 4pm)

KATE LAGALY

A watercolorist, assists students as they gain understanding and contol of wtercolor through guided classroom projects. This class is designed for beginning through intermediate watercolor artists.

  • ONGOING PAINTING STUDIO - Every 1st and 3rd Thursday (9am - 12am)

Cost is $32/month for Cultural Council Members - $35/month for Non-members.

RUTH COX

A painter , a muralist and a plein air specialist, Ruth welcomes Beginners as well as advanced student in oil or acrylic

  • ONGOING PAINTING STUDIO - Every Thursday (1pm - 4pm)

The Cultural Council -- "official arts organization of Georgetown County" --  is an independent 501c3 non-profit organization.  

Our mission is to work at creating a better community through the arts by 
1) developing opportunities for artists to learn, perform and display
