For a series of Sundays during February, March and April 2008, Long Bay Symphony performed Chamber Music at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Church. They were awarded a sub-grant to support their production costs.
The 1st Sundays at 4: Chamber Music Series was designed specifically for the South Strand and Georgetown County, and was the first Chamber Series many have seen in the area. The Long Bay Symphony's noted Music Director, Charles Jones Evans, arranged the musical line-up for each of the three Sundays. The first in the series featured a piano trio accompanied by horn, oboe and viola. A string quartet and vocal chamber music were part of the following two series. Music from Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Schonfeld, Haydn, Kodaly, Barber, Francaix, Pergolesi, Barber, Holst, Copland, and Walton were chosen to be performed by members of the Long Bay Symphony and other local musicians.
Additionally, this popular series has plans in the works for its second run in 2009!
1st Sundays at 4 was underwritten by the Cultural Council of Georgetown County along with Nancy and Billy Cave in memory of Betty Jane Kauzor.
