In the Spring of 2008, Litchfield Ballet Foundation was awarded a sub-grant for the production of Sleeping Beauty. Two performances were held on April 12.
This year, in addition to featuring members of the Litchfield Dance Company, Artistic Director Ilka Doubek brought two guest artists to the production: Samuel Pergande in the role of Prince Desire, and Darrell Haire as Bluebird.
Pergande has training from the Milwaukee Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet, Bolshoi in Vail, Bolshoi Academy in Moscow, American Ballet Theater Studio Company, and most recently with the Joffrey Ballet under the direction of Gerald Arpino.
Haire is a sophomore studying at The Julliard School, Dance Division in New York City. Litchfield Dance Company student Katie Brackett danced the Sleeping Beauty lead role as Princess Aurora.
The Sleeping Beauty Spring performances were choreographed by Doubek and Kerrie-Anne Dunn, guest choreographer and former member of Columbia City Ballet.
