Jim Dyson began his study of art at an early age. He was born James Edward Dyson, III on October 18, 1942 in Summerton, SC. In his pre-teen years, Jim studied with Mrs. Juantia Howell and Miss Eva Corey. He continued to enhance his artistic skills with George R. Kessler in Texas, and Hugo Van Cleef in Georgia while developing a knack for the European Masters classical style of painting.
Jim's 50 year career has not focused solely on being an instructor and professional artist. He has designed logos, displays, and backdrops for museums and corporations. It seems, however, that Jim takes the most pride in teaching. His students range in ages from as young as 15 to as seasoned as 85! Declaring that "every instructor's ultimate goal is to produce a student that surpasses his or her own skill and abilty," Jim has been given much credit by his own students for their successes as professional, award-winning artists.
Jim and his wife Pat reside in Pawleys Island, SC.
