Jean Hanna

Jean's work is centered on unexpected use of color, color harmony and unusual composition. She has no favorable subject matter but is drawn to landscapes and interiors. Her paintings are drenched in color and are said to pulsate from a light source inside the canvas. "Each painting is unique and I respect each one as a one and only. I feel that I have that one time chance to capture mood. I want the viewer to feel the sun, wind and rain, hear the ocean, the breezes moving the boughs of the trees, hear the footsteps of people on cobblestone streets, or share in the onnocence of a child." Jean said. Jean's work will be featured in a one woman show at the Prevost Gallery in April and in another show at the I.Pinkney-Simmons Gallery in May.

Jean's work has been incorporated into three shows with Dian Hammett and Kathy Metts entitled, One Night Stands, in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2001 she had a one woman show in McClellanville, SC, sponsored by the Arts Council of McClellanville. In October of 2003, along with Dian and Kathy, she was invited to exhibit her work in Bois-Colonbes, France, a suburb of Paris. In August of 2004, Jean and Dian exhibited at the Prevost Gallery in Georgetown, SC.
