DEBORAH BROAD

Award-winning artist Deborah Broad is a master of pastels and drawing with extensive knowledge in oil and acrylics.  Hailing from Taos, New Mexico, she has exhibited in many shows and galleries, owned galleries in St. Croix and Taos, as well as won numerous awards for her impressionistic pastel works including shows held at the widely popular Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia, and with the Pastel Society of America.

She is a choreographer of visual elements who often relies on spontaneity and impulse in the orchestration of her characters.  While she seems supremely confident of her still life arrangements, her awe and respect of the landscape is apparent in her grandiose and romanticized treatment of the subject.

Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she studied fine art at the New York Phoenix School of Design and the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia.  She currently resides in Pawleys Island, SC and is the newest instructor in the Cultural Council family, teaching Ongoing Classes & Studio in pastels, drawing, oil, and acrylics.
