Long Bay Sympony concert "Late Romantics"
The Romantic Period, initially inspired by the dramatic power of Beethoven's music, gradually developed its own even greater depth of emotion and more brilliant orchestral palette. Richard Wagner's majestic Die Meistersinger Overture, Giuseppe Verdi's somber Stabat Mater and Anton Bruckner's joyous Psalm 150 (both featuring the Carolina Master Chorale), plus the epic Symphony No. 5 of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky combine to make this program an exciting showcase of the mature Romantic spirit.
